The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released revised figures for immigration on 27 September, 2007. Their figures show that annual net immigration has been running at 190,000 for some years and not, as they previously claimed, 145,000.
Philip Johnston of the Daily Telegraph, in his article, ‘Labour has lost control of borders’, points out that Migrationwatch has stressed, since 2002, that net annual immigration would total two million in the forthcoming decade. The Home Office, and others, accused Migrationwatch of "scaremongering". The ONS revised figures prove Migrationwatch projection correct.
