A children’s care manager and her lover have been jailed for using vulnerable boys as drug mules to sell heroin and crack cocaine in Devon and Cornwall.

Itman Ismail, 28, deputy manager of a care home in London, fell in love with Omorie Nixon, 20, after becoming his key worker, or mentor, in 2018. She had been singled out by her employer as manager but police discovered that Ismail had expressed a preference for working with boys and had completed several courses in gang affiliation, safeguarding and the effects of drug and alcohol.

Following their arrest, emails were uncovered suggesting that Ismail was applying for care home management positions in Devon and Cornwall while on drug trafficking trips with vulnerable youths.
